During winter and cold season, I always like to bake something. Ok, I have to admit that I am always in the mood to bake something, but I especially love that unique smell of something fresh from the oven during winter. If it would be Christmas, I would surely bake some baigly. But as it's not, I decided for some delicious crescent cheese rolls.
Although this recipe involves kneading, it's an easy recipe. Here are the ingredients you need:
- 500 gr flour
- 50 ml warm water
- 250 gr cheese
- 1 spoon sugar
- 20 gr yeast
- pinch of salt
- 1 spoon oil
- dill
More info about these ingredients: you can use any cheese you want, hard cheese (I used cheddar cheese), or even fresh cheese (farmer's cheese). About the dill, you can use as much as you want or don't use it at all. The quantity of the drill depends on everyone's taste.
Put the flour on the kitchen board, and make a little hole in the middle. In that little hole put the slightly warm water, 1 spoon sugar, the yeast, and a pinch of salt. Be careful with the yeast. If you don't know how to use it properly, I have a whole post explaining that.
Mingle a little the flour with the rest of the ingredients, and let the composition sit for about 15 minutes, at room temperature. Then you can start kneading for about 10 minutes. Add the oil, and keep kneading for about 10 more minutes. After your dough is kneaded well, put it in a bowl and let it grow up at room temperature for about 45 minutes. Don't forget to cover the bowl with a kitchen towel.
Until your dough is rising, mix the cheese with the dill.
Now let's bake some delicious crescent cheese rolls. Split the dough into 5 equal parts, and roll it out using a rolling pin. Put the cheese, and just simply roll up the dough. Easy peasy.
Put them on a tray, and don't forget to use parchment paper. Leave it in the oven for about 25-30 minutes, at medium temperature.
