I recently discovered that I think I`m developing an obsession on milkshakes and smoothies. I`m trying to loose some weight (it`s a MUST after the Easter cake eating), and I realized that these drinks might as well be helpful.
As I`m new regarding these drinks, I don`t even know the difference between a smoothie and a milkshake (shame on me, I have some research to do).
Before even searching any recipes, I tried my own milkshake.
I used:
- 1 cup of milk
- 1 apple
- pinch of cinnamon
- a few cubes of ice
The result wasn`t quite as I expected to be. My milkshake was good, but it was like something was missing.
So, I am asking your help. Do you know any easy and quick recipes for milkshakes or smoothies? I need something healthy and still tasty.
If you have a recipe, please just put the link in a comment bellow. Thank you! :)
Great recipe - mmm!
ReplyDeleteI rarely drink either smoothies or milkshakes, but I do know smoothies are fruit, ice, milk and/or yogurt while milkshakes are made with ice cream and a flavor. A lot of bloggers make smoothies, Sophie at Sophies Foodiefiles is especially creative, but your best bet is to Google it. They are so popular, you'll find lots of links.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog!
Thank you Barbara! I`m still in my research period, hoping I`ll find something great!

ReplyDeleteHere is what I put in my morning smoothie:
ReplyDelete3/4 c goat yogurt
ground ginger
ground cayenne pepper
lots of cinnamon
turmeric - fresh is best but I use ground turmeric when I can't find fresh
2 cups spinach (or 1 small avocado or 1/2 cucumber - kale whatever veggie you like)
1 scoop of rice whey protein
1 tablespoon chia seeds
2 tablespoons ground flax
Whip it in the blender for a few minutes - and voila!
Delicious and nutritious smoothie :)

ReplyDeleteI`m very excited and happy that you liked it Lola!
DeleteYou could try adding honey, yoghurt, nutmeg, cloves, vanilla or cardamon to add some flavour and depth to your shake. Or ice cream if you're feeling decadent :-)
ReplyDeleteI don`t think ice cream is good for loosing weight :)) But thanks for the other suggestions :)
Deletethat looks so refreshing. I make them occasionally usually with berries and yogurt...
ReplyDeleteNever thought of apple. Maybe try what they combine it with in salads, like grape or oranges. Anyways - very healthy:)
ReplyDeleteIt does look yummy. I haven't been much of a fan of smoothies. But I should try. Need to get on some kind of diet. Hope you got some good ideas.

I wonder about adding applesauce and/or vanilla yogurt?
ReplyDeleteThat might make it feel 'richer'.
Thanks for a delicious link to the letter "A" for Alphabe-Thursday!
A+
I make smoothies often. I don't measure.
ReplyDeleteBasically I start with frozen fruit. I like berries best.
Then I add soy milk or almond milk or both. Sometimes I throw in some cashews and almonds. If I do that, I add a bit of water. I usually add protein powder. I may add other things as the whim moves me. Rarely I may add a bit of sweetener like honey.
Have fun! Play around with ingredients you like.
That sounds healthy and refreshing too, so I may need to try it. I love honey, so I probably would have added a dab of it. Blessings!
